·         have a wide-ranging curiosity, interests in many activities and are eager to help children develop all aspects of themselves: intellectual, creative, physical, emotional and social

 

·         enjoy and share in the energy, spontaneity, creativity and imagination that are characteristic of children

 

·         exemplify an attitude that recognizes each camper’s desire to improve his/her own skills, rather than emphasizing competition between individuals in which there is a winner at the expense of a loser

 

·          are respectful of all people and have an appreciation of their differences

 

·         enjoy the wonders of nature and all creatures great and small from the tiniest insect to a majestic elk

 

·         are willing to do more than their “fair share” and exhibit a willingness to be flexible as situations change

·         want to have fun at camp and help WHR campers have a magical, life enhancing and joyful experience

 

 

Camp Counselor Qualifications

 

 All program and counseling staff must be at least 19 years of age (preferably completed one year of college) and be open to living among and supporting campers with diverse special needs.  A healthy life style and personal philosophy which embodies positive thinking and creating a helping atmosphere is very important.

 

CPR and First-Aid Training required (training available at WHR during orientation week).

 

Must be available for the full 11 week summer session with arrival at Whispering Hope Ranch on Friday May 23, 2008 (first day of training and staff orientation) and departure Saturday August 9, 2008.

 

Successful background check required

 

References and letters of recommendation required (1 personal, 1 educational, and 1 employment)
