Arizona Deserves a Camp Facility to Serve Special Needs Kids
Children with chronic illness or physical and developmental disabilities spend an inordinate amount of time and energy coping with strict medical regimens. Often shunned or ignored by others in our society, it is common for children with special needs to feel worried, isolated and overly dependent on their caregivers. The expanded facility at WHR affords thousands of children the opportunity to meet and learn from others who face similar challenges in an atmosphere of respect and dignity, and in a place of safety and security.

But Many Special Needs Children Are Unable to Go

Many camp facilities in the state cannot accommodate special needs children with challenges, have mountainous terrain, cannot house large groups, or the facilities simply are not adequate for the severely challenged.

Plans Are Underway to Create Year-Round Camp and Retreat Facilities

The upgraded and expanded facilities and programs offered by WHR accommodate the unique and often complex needs of physically, developmentally and/or medically challenged children and adults in year-round camp and retreat programs.
