Img79.pngTo bring the dream to life, Whispering Hope Ranch Foundation partnered with numerous children's health organizations (‘CHOs’— including Arizona Kidney Foundation, Arizona Spina Bifida Association, Craniofacial Foundation of Arizona, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona, Foundation for Blind Children, Hemophilia Association and Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center) and, in concert with ASU's College of Design, The Weitz Company and architect, Studio MA, put a plan in motion to expand and upgrade facilities to meet the needs outlined by the charter member CHOs.

Whispering Hope Ranch is the only facility in Arizona designed and built from the ground up especially for individuals with challenges. Design elements meet or exceed recommendations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Examples include:

  • Trails and walkways—barrier free, gently sloping to maximize camper mobility
  • Recharging stations for wheelchairs
  • Wellness Retreat Center accommodates services including chemotherapy, breathing treatments, feeding tubes and injections
  • Camper cabins accommodate peritoneal dialysis machines and other support systems

Phase I of the expanded enhanced facilities -- "The Village at Whispering Hope Ranch" includes the following:

  • Camper Cabins: Each of our 10 cabins sleep 8 to 12 with restroom and shower facilities and kitchenettes for family camps and retreats.
  • Wellness and Retreat Center: Critical for our special needs campers is the Virginia G. Piper Wellness and Retreat Center with treatment rooms, medication storage, nurse station and accommodations for medical personnel accompanying children to camp.
  • aps ramada and learning center9-18-2005-138.pngDining Ramada/Discovery Center: This open air covered dining and activity area with drop down sides and enclosed commercial kitchen serves as the main dining area for the facility. Interactive programs provide campers creative opportunities to participate in a variety of arts and crafts projects, allowing them to take part of their Whispering Hope experience home.
  • Animal Interaction Area where children experience the unconditional love offered by animals through therapeutic animal assisted activities with the more than 100 Ranch animal residents.

  • Activity Areas including:

    • Sport Court

    • Pedal Boat Pond
    • Discovery Nature Trail with interpretive learning centers and two pedestrian bridges

    • Overnight Camping Areas with 5 authentic teepees

    • Play/athletic field

    • Stargazing area with telescope

    • Volleyball Court

    • Therapeutic Riding Arena
