CATS:

Abby, and City Kitty are some of the rescued felines at the ranch. Abby was adopted from the Humane Society. City Kitty is a New York City kitty.   He was a member of a colony of feral cats living on the streets of New York.  After a very sad incident where several of the colony died, the remaining four cats were rescued by a wonderful young woman who was able to tame them have them medically checked and placed in good homes…all but City Kitty. The Foundation was contacted by the young woman and asked if City Kitty would be welcome at the ranch.  She flew from the “Big Apple” to Arizona with City Kitty who now enjoys spending time in the Arizona sun.  He has bonded with the other cats and has become very comfortable with his human friends. Peepsie came to live at Whispering Hope when his elderly caregiver moved to a nursing home.  She knew that Whispering Hope was a wonderful place and wanted Peepsie to have a home at the ranch.  He adjusted to his new friends very quickly and stays busy exploring all the exciting play areas at the ranch.  Miss Kitty was rescued by “ranch hand” Richard after he was told about a tiny kitten that had shown up on the doorstep of some people who could not keep her.  She is missing a back leg and required surgery to repair the area where the leg had been.  Miss Kitty is an incredible climber and acrobat and is a remarkable example of living life to the fullest, regardless of her differences!!  Other feline residents are littermates Payson and Strawberry who lost their caregiver and are now enjoying life at Whispering Hope Ranch, with Rainbow, Van Gogh, Tippy and Sylvester.

Donovan is just the sweetest boy whose loving owner moved to a place that did not permit cats.  She wanted Donovan to have the same love, care and attention that she had given him, and requested he live at Whispering Hope Ranch.

DEER:
Comet, Cupid, Prancer and Dancer are fallow deer.  Cupid was at a resort “zoo” that was closing and she was scheduled to become venison!  After her arrival, the Foundation heard of two other Fallow deer who needed homes… Comet, a little buck, and Prancer, a petite doe who is blind in one eye. Prancer was pregnant when she arrived and gave birth on October 1, 2000 to a tiny fawn whom we named Dancer!  She is a wonderful addition to the friendly little herd of special deer.

DOGS:

Riata is a beautiful, blue-eyed border collie.  She was moved from home to home for the first 18 months of her life because none of her families took the time to teach her how to get along and behave appropriately in the human world.  She kept finding herself in trouble through no fault of her own! She recently came to Whispering Hope where she is thriving.  She has even learned to wave hello and goodbye to her favorite friends.

Cosmo, a Pekinese mix and Skippy, a Shitz Tsu mix were adopted together through the Arizona Humane Society’s “buddy system”. Both are nine years old, have special medical needs and have lived their entire lives together. Skippy has a heart condition and Cosmo had a ruptured ligament in his leg.  With medication for Skippy and a little surgery for Cosmo they have become puppies again!  They are delightful, loving additions to the ranch house critter family.  They have quickly learned to live harmoniously with Cocoa bunny, Izzy B parrot and the Cockatiel kids. Who says you can’t teach old dogs new things?!

EMUS:
Sandy
and Monty and Shaboom and Scooter are two mated pairs of emus who came to Whispering Hope Ranch from a big bird farm that was closing.  Sandy is especially affectionate and loves to be gently petted.  Our most recent additions to the family of Emus is a very elegant lady named Emma and her friend, Alex. These beautiful creatures move around the ranch like graceful dancers and bring great pleasure to all who see them.
