Whispering Hope Ranch (WHR) has been providing a healing environment for individuals with physical or developmental challenges since 1998. The Ranch also serves as a home for animals born with physical differences or rescued from difficult circumstances. Their interaction with special-needs guests is nurturing and calming, and promotes well-being.

The Ranch consists of 47-acres adjacent to the Tonto National Forest in central Arizona. Since being established, thousands of special needs children, elderly groups, adults and families have visited the Ranch for day programs, retreats and organized camps focused primarily on nature programs and animal assisted activities.

WHR is currently home to over 100 animal residents. Ranch animals provide unconditional love and comfort to each and every guest, regardless of that individual’s challenges.

A Place Children and Families Already Love to Visit

Unlike humans who sometimes experience an adjustment period when encountering people with physical differences such as severe scarring, facial or limb deformities or the visible effects of medical treatments or surgeries—animals greet all they encounter with a ready acceptance. Many visitors have commented that the Ranch animals seem to sense when a guest has special needs and seek to comfort them.

WHR delivers specialized programs to individuals with special needs that focus on building strong human-animal interactions. [ view current camp programs ]
